Nella specifica Basic Profile il termine "firma dell'operazione" per un'operazione in un elemento wsdl:binding viene definito come nome completo dell'elemento figlio dell'elemento soap:Body del messaggio di input SOAP che descrive. Nel caso di un elemento soap:Body vuoto, tale nome è una stringa vuota. Nel caso di un'associazione in stile rpc/literal il nome dell'operazione viene utilizzato come wrapper per le funzioni di accesso alla parte. Nel caso di un'associazione in stile document/literal, non essendo presente un wrapper con il nome di operazione, le firme del messaggio devono essere progettate in modo corretto in modo che soddisfino questo requisito.

The Profile defines the "wire signature" of an operation in a wsdl:binding to be the fully qualified name of the child element of the soap:Body of the SOAP input message it describes. For the case of an empty soap:Body this name is an empty string. In the case of rpc-literal binding, the operation name is used as a wrapper for the part accessors. In the document-literal case, since a wrapper with the operation name is not present, the message signatures must be correctly designed so that they meet this requirement.
